MONEY: WHERE IT COMES FROM AND HOW TO GET IT
ACDEC member institutions are eligible to apply for mini-grant funds! Each year as a Committee, ACDEC applies for grant funding. Currently we receive funds from the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services – Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Prevention (ADAP) and the Department of Finance and Administration – (DFA-IGS). We use these funds for conferences, management and operations, and a significant amount are disbursed in the form of mini-grants to member institutions.
· Mini-grant guidelines must be followed – see guidelines and allowable costs.
1. The mini-grant is presented and voted on at each ACDEC meeting.
2. Once approved, the Institution must meet all expected deadlines set forth.
3. For reimbursement, the evaluation report and all receipts are due one month (thirty calendar days) following the program. Institutions must submit one report with all receipts to the Chair; one report with all receipts to the Chair-Elect; one report without receipts to the Secretary; two reports with only DFA-IGS receipts to the DFA-IGS Treasurer; and one report with only ADAP receipts to the ADAP Treasurer.
4. After the event, Institution must present an oral report at the next attended meeting.
· Applicants must have representation at three of the last six ACDEC meetings in order to receive grant funds. Applicants must present the proposal in person at an ACDEC meeting. Institutions are strongly encouraged to utilize the “Model Programs” or innovative type of projects with peer-led task forces. Applicants may apply for mini-grants more than once per academic year but not for the same activity or project.
· ADAP mini-grants: $600 per semester.
DFA-IGS mini-grants – vary depending on grant award.
ACDEC meetings are held monthly and mini-grants are presented by the requesting member institutions. The mini-grants are presented and the committee members vote on whether or not the mini-grant meets the requirements set forth in the ACDEC and ABCE guidelines. Copies of guidelines are found on the grant information webpage. The institution must meet all expected deadlines set forth in the guidelines and all receipts and activity evaluations are due one month following the program. The program evaluation report is usually presented at the meeting nearest the evaluation deadline. The evaluation presentation allows for sharing of ideas and materials to the group members that are present.
